She did it! She slept ALL night in HER bed!

It's 8:00 am!

I was almost in shock when I woke up at 6:00 am and I hadn't heard Cora make a sound since midnight. For the first 8 months of her life, she, for the most part, slept with us. At first it was mainly because she slept longer next to me, which helped with the sleep deprivation you go through when they are newborns. When she started getting a little older and not needing a in-the-middle-of-the-night feeding anymore, it was more of a habit of letting her sleep with us, than a necessity. Then, I got used to her being there and the thought of putting her in her own bed scared me. I don't really know why. Maybe I remembered the horrible feeling of NO sleep that I was willing to let her sleep with me until she was 20 than go through that again. But, she started kicking and tossing and turning, basically keeping us awake all night, totally defeating the purpose of having her in bed with us in the first place. So, I (sniff, sniff) decide to let her sleep in her bed. At first, she woke up as soon as I layed her down. HOW DOES SHE KNOW????? Argh. That frustrated me. Eventually she was letting me just lay her in her crib, awake, and would go to sleep, as long as I stood there next to her. Which, I think is a BIG accomplishment in itself. But, never did I expect her to sleep all night long and out sleep me! I woke up yesterday morning and she was still asleep. Instead of sleeping in, I got up, and got a shitload of things done. I made a pot of coffee, read the paper, did the crossword puzzle, fed the animals, brushed MY TEETH (before noon), got dressed, ate breakfast, and fixed her bottles. I finally heard her "talking" in her bed (NOT CRYING!). I went upstairs and that's what I saw (see pic). She was happily playing with her pacifier. This is us, when I picked her up and squeezed the life out of her for being such a BIG girl!

YAY for Cora!

Cora's favorite thing in the world. Her cat. She can be mid-scream and all I have to do is "meow" and she'll look for the cat and quit crying. She looks at her and laughs. I wonder what she thinks about the furry creatures that share this earth with her?

I left her with a STRANGER!

I left my baby with a complete stranger today. I should be shot. Well, she's family...of Kevin's Mom. So, it's not like she is a COMPLETE stranger. Brenda, aka NANA, needed some time off today to plan for some visitors, so I took her to Konnor's babysitter. Cora didn't seem to mind too much. Konnor sure was happy to see her and she only gave Tammy the "snarl" a couple times. So, I am just waiting to her the details of the day when Brenda, aka Nana, goes to pick her up in a couple hours.

It's hard being a baby

Poor Cora. Since she has started crawling, she just can't fathom sitting still for even one minute. It totally wears her out. Last night, not really paying attention to the time, saw my poor little tired Cora crawling her way over to me. She had to stop twice on the way to rest. She would take a few steps and stop and lay her head down....crawl a little more and stop and lay her head down. Finally she mad it to the couch, pulled herself up to her knees and lay her head on the side of the couch. I pulled her up next to me and there she sat watching TV with me until I realized her head was pretty limp and she had fallen asleep, cuddled up next to me. It was sweet.
