She did it! She slept ALL night in HER bed!

It's 8:00 am!

I was almost in shock when I woke up at 6:00 am and I hadn't heard Cora make a sound since midnight. For the first 8 months of her life, she, for the most part, slept with us. At first it was mainly because she slept longer next to me, which helped with the sleep deprivation you go through when they are newborns. When she started getting a little older and not needing a in-the-middle-of-the-night feeding anymore, it was more of a habit of letting her sleep with us, than a necessity. Then, I got used to her being there and the thought of putting her in her own bed scared me. I don't really know why. Maybe I remembered the horrible feeling of NO sleep that I was willing to let her sleep with me until she was 20 than go through that again. But, she started kicking and tossing and turning, basically keeping us awake all night, totally defeating the purpose of having her in bed with us in the first place. So, I (sniff, sniff) decide to let her sleep in her bed. At first, she woke up as soon as I layed her down. HOW DOES SHE KNOW????? Argh. That frustrated me. Eventually she was letting me just lay her in her crib, awake, and would go to sleep, as long as I stood there next to her. Which, I think is a BIG accomplishment in itself. But, never did I expect her to sleep all night long and out sleep me! I woke up yesterday morning and she was still asleep. Instead of sleeping in, I got up, and got a shitload of things done. I made a pot of coffee, read the paper, did the crossword puzzle, fed the animals, brushed MY TEETH (before noon), got dressed, ate breakfast, and fixed her bottles. I finally heard her "talking" in her bed (NOT CRYING!). I went upstairs and that's what I saw (see pic). She was happily playing with her pacifier. This is us, when I picked her up and squeezed the life out of her for being such a BIG girl!

YAY for Cora!

Cute pictures and cute story. It's the right thing. You'll all be glad you're sleeping in different rooms, though trips will be made back and forth even in the teen years.
You guys look like twins.

I can't believe you didn't call me. I had to read it on 'that damn internet', as Brenda would say.
